When is the last time you had a headache? IF you can't remember, consider yourself fortunate; According to the American Institute of Headaches, more than 45 million Americans suffer from them on a chronic basis. These headaches range from stress related headaches to migraines. Regardless of the type of headache, there are a few steps which you can do to help alleviate your pain.

Try these steps to relieve your headache

  • Breathe deeply and slowly: Inadequate levels of oxygen can increase muscle tension and nerve irritation, both of which contribute to your headache.

  • "Sit-up straight". Slumped posture puts excessive stress on the muscles of your neck and these muscles play a major role in the development of headaches.

  • (As much as it breaks my heart...) Avoid caffeine: Caffeine is a stimulant which affects the delicate blood vessels and nerves which supply the tissues in and around your head.

Of course these are just 3 simple recommendations that anyone can do in the office or on the go! If your headache is being just plain stubborn and nothing seems to be helping, it could be indicative of something more significant, so give the office a call...or text!
